Accountability

The Cambridge budget is nearing the billion-dollar threshold and close to surpassing the combined budgets of our neighboring municipalities - Somerville, Medford, Arlington, Watertown, and Belmont. As a candidate for City Council, this must prompt pertinent inquiries: Are fiscal resources being optimally allocated, ensuring thoughtful expenditure of taxpayer funds? Are community concerns genuinely being addressed? Do strategies resonate in advancing educational achievements for students? Can we strike a balance between affordable housing initiatives and heritage preservation while engaging community input in pivotal decisions?

These questions warrant the City Council to proactively engage in performance audits, with mid-course adjustments as warranted. By doing so, taxpayer resources can be channeled in alignment with city objectives and the holistic well-being of the community and their expectations. Concepts such as Lean Management, where waste is minimized and resources are utilized at optimal capacity, should be embraced by our leadership to ensure key performance indicators are in place and aligned with community values.

Creating a better world for the next generations requires collaboration and accountability today.
